Specialty Programs

WorkNet Pinellas is your One Stop provider offering a wide range of Specialty Programs within Pinellas County.
Our goal is to offer one door for the Pinellas County community into these multiple programs and services.
- Veterans: The mission of the Veterans’ Program is to promote and maximize the employment of Florida’s veterans utilizing the complete menu of One Stop Career Center resources.
- Persons with Disabilities: In order to connect people with disabilities to the information and resources they need to pursue their personal and professional ambitions.
- Non-Custodial Parents: An employment and training program for parents who do not live with their children are unemployed or under-employed and must provide child support.
- Welfare Transition: The Welfare Transition Program helps moms and dads move from welfare to work.
- Food Stamps: The Food Stamp Employment and Training Program works to assist participants gain skills, training, experience and/or employment to increase ability to gain self-sufficiency.
- Workforce Investment: WIA is a “work first program" whose goal is to assist customers to enter or return to employment.
- Disaster Assistance: In the event of a natural disaster or catastrophy, personal or community-wide, WorkNet Pinellas works to link victims with local programs and needed services. Customers are encouraged to follow recommended preparedness.
Other specialty programs within the state of Florida:
- Reemployment and Emergency Assistance Coordination (REACT) Team: REACT provides rapid response to coordinate services for employers and/or workers affected by temporary or permanent layoff. Information may be accessed by calling 727-524-4344 and ask for REACT or by clicking Contact Us and completing an online inquiry.
- Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA): TAA assists workers who lost their jobs due to increased trade with Canada or Mexico or a shift in production to those countries. Please click the Agency for Workforce Innovation website for further information, Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA).
- Florida’s Federal Bonding Program: This program provides information on how fidelity bonds can be used as a job placement incentive to place Florida applicants with employers. The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA), triggered dramatic changes in the nation’s Workforce System and how services were delivered to Americans and employers.
WIA reforms created a new comprehensive workforce investment system. The foundation of the new workforce investment system is the One Stop service delivery, which unifies numerous training, education and employment programs into a single, customer-friendly system in each community. Multiple Programs and Providers will co-locate, coordinate and integrate activities and information to better serve their communities.
